UK Asks G7 Partners to Limit Gas and Oil Imports from Russia

The UK is urging its G7 partners to impose restrictions on imports of gas and oil from Russia due to its actions in Ukraine, stated UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“We need to coordinate this with our G7 partners, as we cannot do it alone. We must gradually reduce oil and gas imports from Russia, so that ultimately we can end our dependence on other countries across Europe. This is what we are working on with our G7 partners,” Truss said.

It is reminded that on the early morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the nation, announcing the decision to initiate a special military operation in Donbas. “The circumstances require us to take decisive and immediate actions. The people's republics of Donbas have appealed to Russia for assistance. In this connection, I have made the decision to carry out a special military operation,” Putin stated in a televised address to Russian citizens.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that since Thursday at 5:00 AM (7:00 AM Yerevan time), the Russian Armed Forces have been conducting intense attacks on Ukrainian military facilities and airports. The Verkhovna Rada has declared a state of martial law in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs has reported preliminary figures on casualties and injuries.
