Lukashenko and Macron Discuss the Situation in Ukraine

The phone conversation between the presidents of Belarus and France, Alexander Lukashenko and Emmanuel Macron, took place yesterday evening. This was reported to 'BELTA' by the press service of the Belarusian president.

The conversation lasted about one hour and twenty minutes, with all issues related to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict being discussed. The parties addressed Belarus’s position and involvement in this conflict.

They discussed the future of Europe and Belarus's role in the global order, as well as the relations between Belarus and Russia.

Another topic concerned armaments, including discussions on nuclear weapons and the potential deployment of such weapons in Belarus. In response to this issue, the Belarusian president stated that this is a 'fake' and that 'if the Belarusian people are not oppressed, there will be no talk not only of nuclear weapons but even of conventional arms.'

Regarding the prospect of peace negotiations, Alexander Lukashenko expressed his stance, stating 'at any time, in any place—in Belarus.'

The French president notably emphasized his respect for the Belarusian people during the conversation. The leaders agreed to communicate in the near future.
