Over 47,000 residents of Ukraine have traveled to Poland in the past day, according to the Ukrainian border service, as reported by RIA Novosti.

"Yesterday, border service staff processed a total of 58,300 exits from the country at border crossings with Ukraine, including 47,500 people heading to Poland," the statement read.

According to the border service, on February 24, 29,000 Ukrainian citizens also traveled to Poland.

It is worth noting that on the early morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to commence a special military operation against Ukraine, following requests for assistance from the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) and the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). In a televised address to the Russian people, he stated that circumstances required decisive and immediate action.
