Erdogan on NATO and the West: ‘They Only Give Advice’
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes that NATO did not demonstrate the necessary decisiveness regarding the Ukraine issue, and the West's attitude is far from friendly. He made this statement during a conversation with journalists in Istanbul, as reported by TASS agency.
“The West, EU member countries, and NATO failed to show the necessary determination regarding Ukraine. They only give advice. The West's attitude towards Ukraine cannot be considered either friendly or in the spirit of solidarity,” Erdogan said.
It is noteworthy that Ukraine had officially appealed to Turkey, requesting the closure of the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits for Russian warships; however, the country’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that Ankara cannot fulfill Kyiv's request.
