No Requests Received for Cancellation of Flights to Kyiv and Krasnodar

The Armenian Civil Aviation Committee has not yet received any requests from airlines to cancel flights to Kyiv and Krasnodar. This was announced by Lilit Agababyan, assistant to the head of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic of Armenia, to Sputnik Armenia.

According to the online schedule of Zvartnots International Airport, there are two flights planned from Yerevan to Krasnodar. A Pegasus Airlines flight is scheduled to depart at 19:05, while the Azimuth flight is set for 23:25. The Yerevan-Kyiv flight is expected at 20:40.

“The logic of current events suggests that the planes will most likely not arrive in Yerevan and consequently will not fly back,” Agababyan said.

It was previously reported that due to military operations in Ukraine starting from February 24, 2022, several airports in Russia have temporarily suspended flights. Specifically, operations at Rostov (Platov), Krasnodar (Pashkovsky), Anapa (Vityazevo), Gelendzhik, Elista, Stavropol, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, and Simferopol airports have been temporarily halted. Additionally, Ukrainian airspace has been closed.

It should be noted that the situation in Donbas escalated on February 17. On February 19, the leaders of LPR and DPR signed decrees for a general mobilization and then appealed to Russia to request recognition. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the Russians, announcing his decision to recognize the sovereignty of LPR and DPR.

On February 24, Vladimir Putin declared that he had made a decision regarding a special military operation in Donbas.
