Levon Ter-Petrosyan: The Supreme Spiritual Council of the Armenian Church Must Categorically Reject This Idea
The first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, has commented on the proposal to erect a statue of Jesus Christ.
Since the issue pertains exclusively to the jurisdiction of the Armenian Apostolic Church, which the state has no right to interfere with, I firmly believe that the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Armenian Church, while duly recognizing the undeniable contribution of national benefactor Gagik Tsarukyan to church construction, must categorically reject this idea, as it contradicts the sacred traditions of the Armenian Church's 1,700-year history.
