Armenian Foreign Ministry on the Agreement Signed Between Russia and Azerbaijan

The intergovernmental allied cooperation established between Armenia and Russia, based on the centuries-old friendship of their peoples, is self-sufficient in nature and is not conditioned by relations with third countries, unless those countries develop relations to the detriment of the Armenian-Russian alliance. This is supported by history and the signed documents. This was stated by the press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Vahan Hunanian, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.

It is worth recalling that on February 22, in Moscow, the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev, signed a declaration on allied cooperation. The declaration mentions that Russia and Azerbaijan intend to deepen military cooperation.

“Yerevan and Moscow are consistently taking steps at various levels, including high and supreme levels, to expand relations in both bilateral and multilateral formats, in favor of our countries’ development under guaranteed security conditions,” emphasized Hunanian.

The Foreign Ministry hopes that the declaration signed in Moscow on February 22 this year will provide additional opportunities to promote the implementation of the provisions of the three trilateral statements adopted by the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan, which could also contribute to a lasting and comprehensive resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
