Video: Today my country is in a quite severe situation. It is infected with a heavy virus of populism, says MP addressing Azerbaijanis
Armenia is currently in quite a severe situation. It is infected with a heavy virus of populism, stated Arthur Ghazinyan, a member of the Armenia parliamentary faction, during a meeting of the "Euronest" Parliamentary Assembly committee, which also included an Azerbaijani delegation.
“As a representative of an ancient civilization that has significantly influenced the development of both the East and the West, we have always been pleased to host our friends. Those who came to our home with good intentions received appropriate treatment, while those who came to Armenia with bad intentions are now described in history textbooks as vanished peoples and states.
Like a significant part of humanity, today our state finds itself at the center of deepening turbulence, where the world has become more dangerous, red lines have ceased to function, and traditional political responsibility has been replaced by widespread populism. I have led the Center for European Studies at Yerevan State University for a long time and have an academic understanding of Europe and European values. However, following the ongoing processes and the reactions of united Europe to them, I am simply astonished and confused; the Europe I know cannot allow such blatant double standards.
I do not recognize the Europe I once knew and cannot find the European values that I have defended and fought for for more than a decade. Turkey and Azerbaijan, which have committed numerous crimes against humanity in Artsakh and Armenia with the involvement of international terrorists from the Middle East, have not yet been punished; no European sanctions have been applied against them.
Today my country is in quite a severe situation. It is infected with a heavy virus of populism. But this will not last long.
My message to the Azerbaijani "partners" is very clear: do not confuse the Armenian Nation with the Armenian State that is led by a group of populists who happen to be managing Armenia during this difficult time. Never forget the outcome of the war when our state was led not by populists, but by true leaders. Do not forget that even in conditions of numerical superiority and the support of Turkey, Pakistan, and international terrorists, young Armenian soldiers fought fiercely for 44 days to defend their Homeland.
And finally, on behalf of the Armenian nation and the state, convey to Mr. Aliyev and his bosses that Artsakh has always been, is, and will be Armenian. And this will be the sharp reminder of every Armenian living in the world,” noted the opposition MP.
