Video: The Conflict Between Two Countries Has Been Resolved; Our Country Is Ready to Address Border Delimitation Issues, Says Azerbaijani MP

Azerbaijani MP Soltan Mamedov, who arrived in Yerevan, believes that their visit to Armenia is a positive sign for the establishment of relations between the two countries. Mamedov expressed this opinion during the 'Euronest' Parliamentary Assembly session.

It was reported that Azerbaijani MPs Tahir Mirkişili and Soltan Mamedov had arrived in Yerevan for the 'Euronest' Parliamentary Assembly session. Mamedov thanked Armenia for its warm hospitality. He also noted that it is very important to cooperate within the framework of the Eastern Partnership in order to establish peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as to engage in dialogue between the two countries.

Regarding captives and cultural heritage issues, Mamedov stated, 'All prisoners of war and detainees have been returned to Armenia after the war. Discussions are now ongoing about the people detained after the war concerning international law and deadlines,' adding that they do not want to touch upon the 'fate of 4,000 Azerbaijanis' during the first Nagorno-Karabakh War.

Addressing the issue of border delimitation, Mamedov mentioned that since the conflict between the two countries has been resolved, Azerbaijan is willing to address border delimitation issues. He expressed his happiness regarding the positive signals received from the Armenian side in this regard. Additionally, the Azerbaijani MP noted that the OSCE Minsk Group should contribute to the stabilization of the region.

Another Azerbaijani MP, Tahir Mirkişili, also stated that regional countries must respect the territorial integrity of neighboring countries and the rights of peoples. According to him, measures must be taken to prevent future conflicts.

'As a result of the wars, we suffered thousands of human losses on both the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides. We do not have revanchist aspirations and do not want to resort to the use of force in the future. All of that is in the past, and now we must talk about the future. A peace agreement, for example, would be a good chance for shaping future relations,' Mirkişili said. He added that there are good opportunities for cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the EU and the '3+3' format.
