Video: Mayor Angry During Meeting
During a meeting regarding procedural issues related to administrative violations, Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan expressed frustration towards reports provided by Aram Abovyan. The mayor questioned why citizens do not receive adequate answers to their inquiries. Abovyan explained that the queries raised are complex, but the mayor insisted on proper reporting.
“A citizen writes, requesting information in accordance with Article 42 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and Article 6 of the Law on Freedom of Information, asking for the total number of complaints filed based on Part 1 of Article 124 of the Code of Administrative Offenses during 2020 and 2021. This person has asked for something specific; I am not interested in the background story. Perhaps the citizen is wrong or right, but that’s not the issue we are discussing here. The point is, this person has requested information; why haven’t you provided it?” Sargsyan stated.
Aram Abovyan, the head of the division handling administrative violations, responded that they had provided the necessary information. The mayor then followed up by asking if Abovyan believed he had given the correct answer. After a positive affirmation, Sargsyan remarked, “Okay, we noted that you answered correctly. I will also note for myself that you provided the right answer. If you think it's acceptable to give citizens such a response, I will inform you of where the problem lies. Let’s move on.”
