Serzh Sargsyan's Office Responds to Aliyev's Regime

The office of Armenia's third president, Serzh Sargsyan, has responded to statements made by Aliyev's regime regarding the intention to prosecute Sargsyan and issue a warrant for his arrest.

"The charges against Serzh Sargsyan put forth by Aliyev's regime are absurd in themselves, and the allegations presented are cynical. They are cynical because Aliyev, who has honed a policy of genocide over the years and transformed anti-Armenian sentiment into a state policy throughout his tenure, has no moral right to speak about Serzh Sargsyan, let alone present accusations against him. For years, Aliyev has faced the skilled diplomacy of Serzh Sargsyan, who has represented Armenia with dignity, and has witnessed Sargsyan's high approval ratings, which have not diminished in the international community even after his resignation," the statement reads.

"Since leaving office, Serzh Sargsyan has continued to represent Armenia's national and state interests abroad, leveraging his extensive connections and experience. As has been the case since 1988, President Sargsyan will continue to pursue the realization of the Armenian people’s right to live freely, independently, and securely on their ancestral lands in Artsakh, where they have lived for millennia. It is noteworthy that while the capitulatory authorities within the country are pursuing the second president, Robert Kocharian, and the third president, Serzh Sargsyan, those operating from outside the country have been pursued by the ruling Azerbaijani clan, which has effectively become an ally of these capitulatory authorities. Neither the regime acting within Armenia nor those pursuing him from outside will succeed in stopping Serzh Sargsyan on his path to fulfilling his mission. We are confident that the time will come for those who have committed atrocities against the Armenian people to be held accountable, in addition to what history will reveal," the statement concludes.
