Iran's Position on Armenia: Meeting of Armenian and Iranian Foreign Ministers

On February 19, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Munich.

The ministers expressed satisfaction regarding the positive dynamics of relations based on the historical ties and mutual understanding between the two nations. They showed readiness to elevate Armenian-Iranian cooperation to a new qualitative level in security, trade, energy, transport, tourism, culture, and other fields.

Mirzoyan and Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the necessity of finalizing and signing an agreement on the establishment of a "Persian Gulf-Black Sea international transport corridor," stressing the importance of joint efforts among experts to organize the 6th meeting for this context.

The two ministers discussed a broad range of issues related to regional and international security and stability.

Minister Mirzoyan presented to his counterpart the situation created by Azerbaijan's aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh and its people, as well as the incursion of Azerbaijani armed forces into Armenia's sovereign territory. He highly appreciated Iran’s stance on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Armenia’s borders.

The necessity of a peaceful and lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship was also emphasized.
