Are Positions Again Being Given Up to the Adversary Near Kapan? Parsyan Responds to Rumors

The alternative route connecting Iran to Armenia is currently impassable for heavy trucks, stated Gevorg Parsyan, the mayor of Kapan, in an interview with NEWS.am.

"We had two routes from Iran to Armenia, one passing through Vorotan and the other through the alternative route of Tatev, which is now the only usable route for us. As I have said before and will repeat now, the alternative route of Tatev is difficult for heavy trucks. The sections which pose real dangers to heavy trucks seem to currently be making alternative bypass routes. This includes the Tatev-Ltsen road and the bypass road of Verin Khotanan," he said.

Despite the existing difficulties, Parsyan believes that it is also possible to bring the main road via Vorotan back under our control. "Everything is possible; it just needs will, desire, and the right policy. I believe everything is possible," he stated.

Addressing the media reports about the possibility of giving up positions to the adversary near Kapan, Parsyan mentioned that he has no such information and added, "We do not have any problematic areas to give away. What else can we give up? We have nothing to concede. If we give up something after this, we have to concede our settlements."

Parsyan emphasized the importance of creating a security zone near Kapan in the current situation. "The proximity of the enemy poses dangers to Kapan. In this case, creating a security zone is very important, withdrawing Azerbaijani troops because they pose a direct threat to our settlements. I cannot imagine our troops withdrawing; only Azerbaijani troops need to retreat, as they present a direct threat to our communities," he added.
