Video: 14 of 20 Soldiers Who Transferred State Secrets to the Adversary Detained, NSS
In the investigative department of the National Security Service of Armenia, the preliminary investigation of the criminal case regarding state treason and espionage continues.
Considering the wide public interest in this criminal case, the National Security Service informs that during the course of the proceedings, investigative and operational measures have resulted in information that citizens of the Republic of Armenia involved in an agent network, having participated in the 44-day war, transferred various military-related information from the battlefield at the instruction of a foreign intelligence agency.
As a result of sufficient evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, charges have been brought against a total of 20 individuals for committing state treason and assisting in it, of whom 14 have been detained as a measure of restraint.
The anti-state activities carried out by these individuals during the intense moments of the war have allowed the adversary to gain accurate knowledge about the Armenian forces, military units, types and numbers of military equipment, their possible tactics related to offense, defense, counter-battle, tactical redeployments, and others, including receiving the geographic coordinates of the Armenian forces marked on a map.
As a result of activities undermining national foundations and threatening territorial integrity, which risk the lives of those courageously fighting on the battlefield, the adversary has executed targeted strikes using unmanned aerial vehicles and various artillery weaponry, incapacitating Armenian units and hindering their further operational tasks.
It is noteworthy that the foreign intelligence has primarily involved former or current military personnel in the espionage network, who, due to their service, have had the opportunity to access military bases located in the Republics of Armenia and Artsakh, ascend to combat positions, and familiarize themselves with a variety of documents and information related to the military sphere.
Using their authority among their co-servicemen, these individuals engaged in treasonous activities have entered military units, ascended to combat positions, covertly filmed, documented types and numbers of military equipment, monitored troop movements, photographed maps of military significance, obtained other information, and transferred such data to representatives of foreign intelligence in exchange for payment.
The investigation is ongoing.
