Video: Police Discover Stolen Gold License Plate After 1.5 Years
On June 15, 2020, a report was received at the Central Division of the police that gold license plates 99-999 had been stolen from a parked 'Hyundai' vehicle on Moscow Street in the capital, and a threat to destroy the plates was made with a demand for money. A criminal case was initiated following the incident.
The police reported that the crime had not been solved, but efforts to uncover it were ongoing. The breakthrough came about a year and a half later.
On February 15, officers from the Gegharkunik Regional Administration, in cooperation with officers from the Gavar Division, detained a 27-year-old man for driving a vehicle without a driver's license. The 'VAZ-2114' vehicle he was driving bore the stolen gold license plates 99-999.
As a result of the actions taken by the police, it was revealed that the actual registration number of the vehicle was different. According to the detainee, he purchased the 99-999 license plates from an unknown person for 100,000 drams in Yerevan last December. Steps are being taken to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
The pre-investigation of the initiated criminal case continues.
