If the Earthquake Lasted 5 Seconds Longer, All Walls Could Have Collapsed: A Conversation with a Marneuli Resident
Last night’s powerful earthquake caused damage to a school and several houses in the village of Akhkerpi in the Marneuli region. This was stated by Arsen Khakverdyan, a majoritarian deputy of the Marneuli municipal council, in a conversation with Alik Media.
According to Khakverdyan, several officials are already in the village, led by the first deputy mayor of Marneuli, Roi Dekanoidze, to assess the consequences of the earthquake on site.
The deputy also noted that the school in the village of Akhkerpi may be rebuilt due to the extensive damage. He mentioned that two rooms in one of the houses were damaged, with cracks measuring about 10 centimeters in width.
“We are currently living in the house,” said Vardumyan, adding that experts have indicated that if the earthquake had lasted 5 seconds longer, all the walls might have collapsed.
