A Large Asteroid Larger Than the Eiffel Tower is Approaching Earth
According to a report by Roscosmos on their Telegram channel, a large asteroid is approaching Earth, which is four times bigger than the Eiffel Tower. It will pass by Earth on March 4.
"A large asteroid 138971 (2001 CB21) is approaching Earth. The diameter of the celestial body is approximately 1.3 kilometers, which means it is four times taller than the Eiffel Tower. The asteroid will pass near our planet on March 4," the message states.
Roscosmos has also showcased an animation of the flight. As clarified by Roscosmos, the animation was created by employees of the M.V. Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, with the help of the Altai Observatory.
The celestial body will be at a maximum distance of 4.8 million kilometers from our planet, which rules out the possibility of a collision.
