Court Obligates Yerevan State University Rector to Pay Alimony for His Children; Rector Disagrees

The president of the 'Human Rights Defender' NGO, Karen Hekimyan, has shared both good and bad news.

'Let me start with the good news: The Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction has ruled in favor of the former wife of the current rector of Yerevan State University, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, under case number ED/41349/02/19. According to the court's decision, Hovhannisyan is obliged to pay alimony for his biological children amounting to one-third of his monthly earnings and/or other income. That's the good part. The bad news is that Hovhannes Hovhannisyan disagrees with the ruling and has appealed to the appellate court.
