Video: An-2 Aircraft Crashes in Kamchatka, Two Victims Reported

An An-2 aircraft has crashed in the Kamchatka region, falling into a forested area. Footage from Russian media shows the almost completely burnt wreckage of the plane.

The report of the light aircraft's crash was received by the regional department of the Russian Emergency Ministry at 3:30 AM Moscow time. A total of 43 personnel and 9 units of equipment were dispatched to the site.

There were two people on board the aircraft, both of whom have been confirmed dead.

Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov stated that the aircraft crashed while taking off from an unprepared runway near the Severnyi Koryak settlement. The plane was privately owned and was undertaking a technical flight.

A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of violation of safety regulations leading to the negligent death of two or more individuals.
