Two Soldiers Deliberately Shot Each Other to Avoid Service During War
During the 44-day war, two soldiers conspired to cause harm to each other in order to temporarily halt their military service. This revelation was made by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
It was discovered that on October 19, 2020, around 2:00 AM, near the Stepanakert-Hadrut highway in Artsakh, N.A. fired one shot with his AK-74 assault rifle at V.K., causing minor injury to his left shoulder. After this, V.K. fired one shot with his AK-74 assault rifle at N.A.'s right shin, inflicting serious injury. As a result, their military service was temporarily suspended.
V.K. has been charged under Article 363, Part 5, Article 38-363, Part 5 (to halt military service or the performance of individual responsibilities through mutilation, simulating illness, or by illegal means) and Article 112, Part 1 (causing serious harm to health intentionally). N.A. has been charged under Article 38-363, Part 5, Article 363, Part 5, and Article 117 (causing minor health damage intentionally).
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the case has been sent to the General Jurisdiction Court of the Syunik Province with an accusatory conclusion.
