Video: Man Who Fired Shots in Arabkir Found

The officers of the Yerevan City Police Department and the Arabkir Division conducted extensive operational measures and on February 9 received information that a 39-year-old man, wanted for serious crimes and a resident of Yerevan, was hiding in one of the buildings on Tsitsernakaberd Highway.

The police reported that on the same evening, the mentioned divisions and the special forces unit of the Yerevan City Police found and apprehended the wanted individual.

It is worth recalling that gunfire was reported in the Arabkir administrative district on December 11, 2021. Initially, the Arabkir department received a call regarding shots fired on Riga Street, followed by another report of gunfire on Hrachya Kochar Street. Operational investigative teams were dispatched to the addresses provided by the callers.

As a result of the operational-investigative measures conducted at the scene, the following became clear. According to preliminary information, a group of individuals had gotten into an argument in the vicinity of building No. 2 on Arabkir Street 29. The identities of the participants were established, and the reason for the dispute was related to a car washing issue. During the incident, a 39-year-old man fired shots with an illegal automatic rifle towards a Mercedes vehicle owned by one of the participant's father. He then fired additional shots after moving slightly away from the scene and fled in a BMW car.

During the examination of the crime scene, 10 cartridges of 7.62 mm caliber were found. Subsequent operational-investigative measures and investigative actions resulted in obtaining factual data indicating that the shots had been fired by the 39-year-old man. On December 14, three days after the incident, a search warrant was issued for him on charges of hooliganism and illegally acquiring, selling, possessing, transporting, or carrying a weapon, with the precautionary measure being detention.

After several months of efforts, the wanted individual was found on February 9. He presented a Kalashnikov rifle, which is preliminarily believed to be the tool of the crime. Additionally, a Makarov pistol was confiscated during the search at the location of his apprehension.
