Why Russian Figure Skaters Have Not Received Their Gold Medals

The Russian Olympic Committee's team, which secured gold medals in the figure skating team event, has yet to receive the medals. The award ceremony was scheduled for February 8 but has been postponed. The issue is related to the results of doping tests. The Russian Olympic Committee and the Anti-Doping Agency are still facing legal challenges. The doping test in question is linked to the results of one of the figure skaters who was tested prior to the Olympic Games.

Previously, on February 7, the results of the women's singles competition proved crucial in the ongoing figure skating team event at the 24th Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. With a score of 178.92, Russian skater Kamila Valieva took first place. Japan's Kaori Sakamoto came in second, while Canada's Madeline Skizas finished third.

In the team standings, the Russian Olympic Committee's team accumulated 74 points and became the gold medalists of the Olympic Games. The Russians had achieved similar success in the 2014 Sochi Games. The USA team secured second place, and Japan won bronze.
