Russian Soldiers and Armenian Air Defense Forces Conduct Joint Exercises
The personnel of the "Erebuni" aviation base and the air defense missile units of the Southern Military District of Russia have conducted joint operations with the duty servicemen of the Armenian Ministry of Defense. This information has been reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
According to the report, "The servicemen of the Southern Military District carried out the detection and interception of aerial targets simulating airspace violators in collaboration with the forces and assets of the Armenian aviation and air defense troops, ensuring the defense of air borders and units located in the area of deployment of Russian military formations, as well as providing assistance to aircraft in conditions of simulated disasters."
It is emphasized that the training flights of the duty shift were carried out along the state border of Armenia, in the joint duty zones of air defense missile and anti-aircraft units of both countries, at altitudes ranging from 50 to 6,000 meters, at various speeds. The air defense missile servicemen developed algorithms for carrying out combat duty to protect the airspace. Target operators practiced observation and conducted simulated electronic attacks on various types of aerial targets. The mechanics-drivers, in turn, mastered the procedure for overcoming frozen ravines, muddy pits, and slopes in the difficult conditions of high mountain snowy terrain.
