56% of Armenian Grape Wine is Exported to Russia

In 2020, the export of Armenian grape wine decreased slightly due to crisis conditions in the economy. In 2019, the export was approximately $11.9 million, while in 2020, it was $8.6 million. Notably, the reduction was not so much in the volume of exported wines, but rather in their average price. The volume of exports decreased by 6%, while export revenue dropped by more than 25%.

The largest market for Armenian grape wine remains Russia, which accounts for nearly 56% of total exports. Just over 13% is exported to the United States, while about 30% goes to other countries, including Ukraine, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Canada, and others.

The volume of exports to China is also still very minimal. According to 2020 data, approximately $70,000 worth of Armenian wine was exported to China.

It is important to note that these figures refer only to grape wine. As for other fruit wines, their production and export in Armenia have significantly increased in recent years, even surpassing grape wine export figures. In 2020, Armenia exported $10 million worth of fruit wine.

This information has been reported by the State Revenue Committee of Armenia.
