In Ahvaz, Iran, a young man beheaded his 17-year-old wife, Mona Heidari, under the guise of an "honor killing." According to Iran International, after committing the murder, the man walked through the streets holding his wife's severed head.

The incident took place on Saturday when the young woman was returned from Turkey, where she had traveled for unknown reasons. It has been reported that her father, who is also the man's cousin, assisted in facilitating her return.

Both the husband and his brother, who aided in the murder, have been arrested. Iranian media regulatory authorities have blocked the Rokna agency, which was the first to publish footage showing the man walking with his wife's head in hand.
