Is There a Dispute Surrounding the Composer's Grave? Aramo Comments on the News
Yesterday, those gathered in the yard of the "Aram Khachaturian" concert hall bid farewell to the People's Artist of Armenia, founder and artistic director of the State Song Theatre of Armenia, composer Arthur Grigoryan, with applause. Today, the press reported that issues and disputes have arisen regarding the burial of the renowned composer.
Grigoryan had expressed a desire to be buried in the city cemetery, in a free plot next to Rima Demirchyan, but it has been revealed that this plot belongs to someone else, and the composer's remains have been interred elsewhere.
In an interview with ArmDaily.am, the Honored Artist of Armenia, Aramo, stated that the memorial service and burial ceremonies for the composer were organized appropriately. “We, as artists, actors, and also the public, were there for Grigoryan and on the day of his burial, and the memorial service. Everything is normal; there is no problem,” said the singer.
The press also reported that the designated place in the pantheon for Grigoryan is unremarkable and unworthy of the great artist. Responding to these comments, Aramo noted, “What is lavish and unremarkable in a grave? Everything is fine. We peacefully laid Grigoryan to rest, may his soul find peace, and God protect him, keeping him among the lights.”
