Hotel Director Who Provided Shelter to Artsakh Residents During War Embezzled Over 15 Million Drams
The director of a hotel service company has been charged in a criminal case being investigated by the Artsakh Investigative Committee.
He allegedly submitted false information in the expense documents for providing shelter to the displaced residents of Artsakh, which he submitted to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Artsakh.
According to the Artsakh Investigative Committee, following the outbreak of war against the Republic of Artsakh on September 27, 2020, he was contracted to provide accommodation services for residents displaced from localities that remained under the control of Azerbaijani armed forces. As part of this contract with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, he is accused of committing embezzlement with the intent to fraudulently misappropriate property.
Between April and November 2021, he is alleged to have defrauded the state by incorporating obvious false information and creating counterfeit official documents, resulting in misappropriation of a substantial amount, totaling 15,740,000 Armenian drams. This embezzlement has caused equivalent financial damage to the state. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
