Schools Apply to Ministry for Remote Classes
Due to the pandemic, 108 schools in Armenia have applied to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports to organize classes either fully or partially online.
In response to an inquiry by Armenpress, the ministry stated that approximately 48 schools have requested a complete transition to remote learning. The remaining schools plan to conduct classes online partially, meaning not all grades will transition to virtual sessions. Schools have applied for varying durations, with some requesting two weeks, others one week, or just a few days. The majority of requests for remote learning have come from Yerevan, while there are also applications from other regions including Vayots Dzor, Armavir, Shirak, Tavush, and others.
Schools fully switch to remote learning if around 10 percent of the staff and students test positive for the coronavirus. In other cases, only partial remote classes are held.
A few days ago, Auroranews reported that several schools in the Republic have switched to online education to break the chain of infection. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports informed us that this concerns 20 schools, of which 7 are located in regional areas—two in Vanadzor, and one each in Nor Hachn, Armavir, Sevan, Jermuk, and Abovyan—with the remaining 13 located in Yerevan.
