Elon Musk stated on Lex Friedman’s YouTube podcast that sending humans to Mars would cost around a trillion dollars under current conditions.

“We cannot colonize Mars yet because it is still too expensive. Right now, sending humans to Mars would cost one trillion dollars. The fact is that one rocket is not enough; people need medical supplies and communication tools,” said the entrepreneur.

He also mentioned his desire to create self-sufficient colony cities using underground farms that would harness solar energy. This would provide conditions for growing crops and sourcing food for humans.
