Erdogan's Administration Activates Noticeably, According to Iranian Expert
Iranian expert Vardan Voskanian writes: “In recent days, the Erdogan administration has noticeably intensified its efforts to secure alternatives for Iranian gas within its own country while simultaneously seeking to become a more serious player in various gas projects.
The fact is that the official declaration from Tehran about technical issues leading to the suspension of Iranian gas supplies at the end of January resulted in many Turkish industrial zones coming to a halt, causing enormous damage to the already struggling Turkish economy.
Perhaps precisely for this reason, this week the Erdogan administration not only attempted to lobby for a gas contract with Iraq through the President of the Kurdish Autonomous Region, Nechirvan Barzani, but also started making overtures towards Tel Aviv, claiming that Turkey can not only become an importer of Israeli gas but also a transit route for it to Europe.
However, Erdogan would not be Erdogan if he didn’t want to hit two targets with one arrow: through a ‘choreographed dance’ with Tel Aviv, he seeks to push Greece off the stage, which had already initiated a project in 2018 with Israel and Cyprus to transport Eastern Mediterranean gas to European countries.
Incidentally, the volumes of Iranian gas supplied to Turkey are almost equal to the amount of blue fuel provided to that country by Azerbaijan, so it is not hard to understand the difficult situation that not only the dictator of Baku but also the Erdogan administration would find themselves in if during the 44-day war, some ‘lost’ missile were to take out a significant object of the gas infrastructure of Aliyev's hostile dictatorship.”
