Vlen Soon to Return to Yerevan to Surrender: Where the Soldier Who Left the Military Unit Is

For two days now, a scandalous incident that took place in one of the military units in Kapan has been actively circulating on social media. According to reports in the media, a Yazidi conscript was forced to clean the toilet, subjected to brutal beatings, and deprived of food, leading him to flee the military unit under pressure.

Alongside this information, another narrative has begun to spread today, where a soldier serving in the same unit claims that none of this occurred and that it was Vlen himself who misbehaved in front of the command. Reportedly, he refused to clean his sleeping area and wear his military uniform and was not subjected to any pressure.

To clarify the situation, Lurer.com spoke with the conscript's grandmother, Rosa Feroyan, who refuted the claims made by the soldier who served alongside her grandson. She stated that if her grandson had refused to wear a uniform and serve, he wouldn’t voluntarily go to the military registration office seeking to be enlisted. “Vlen has health issues related to his chest, but he did not let that stop him; he went to the military registration office in Ashtarak and requested to be accepted into service. Besides this, if he did not want to serve, he would not have returned to his homeland from the Russian Federation for the purpose of service,” noted the grandmother of the soldier who abandoned his military unit.

She expressed her belief that the soldier who denied her grandson’s experiences was compelled to call and narrate a different story. “It is clear that he has been taught to say such things; his statements do not correspond to reality,” Rosa Feroyan explained.

When asked if they knew where Vlen was currently located, and whether he had been in touch with them, the interlocutor responded, “He just contacted us two hours ago. He told us where he is and mentioned that he will soon come to Yerevan to surrender. Vlen specifically said that he would not continue service in that military unit under any circumstances but would go to any other unit besides the Kapan military unit,” Rosa Feroyan emphasized.

It should be noted that on February 3, the Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan also commented on this incident, stating that an investigation has been launched regarding the case of the soldier who voluntarily left the military unit, which will also evaluate the circumstances surrounding the abandonment of the unit.
