The Authorities are 'Violating' the Legal Framework: Arthur Vanetsyan

The currently ruling authorities in Armenia are 'violating' the legal framework and justice. This was stated by Arthur Vanetsyan, the leader of the 'I Have Honor' parliamentary faction, during a conversation with reporters in front of the Ajapnyak residence of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, referring to the case of Boris Bakhshiyan, a judge of the Syunik region's general jurisdiction court.

“Society must respond to this issue and give its clear assessment. We did not come here to defend a specific judge; we are here to defend justice in general. All our actions should aim to prevent Armenia from turning into a dictatorship,” he said, noting that the Armenian authorities are clearly leading the country towards dictatorship.

According to Vanetsyan, this government has divided the entire state system into the desirable and the undesirable. “The authorities want to send a clear message to the judiciary that if anyone dares to make a decision unfavorable to the authorities, they will be punished immediately,” Vanetsyan stated.

It should be noted that on January 31, two motions were submitted to the Supreme Judicial Council by the Prosecutor General of Armenia regarding consent to initiate criminal proceedings against Boris Bakhshiyan and consent to deprive the judge of freedom. The council unanimously decided to approve both motions.

On February 2, pursuant to a decision by the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Gagik Jhangiryan, Bakhshiyan's powers were suspended until the completion of the criminal proceedings against him. The motion for the arrest of Boris Bakhshiyan has been assigned to Judge Davit Arjanyan.

It is also worth mentioning that Boris Bakhshiyan is the judge handling the case of Ashot Minasian, the commander of the 'Sisakan' detachment.
