Does Putin Fear Kadyrov? Peskov Responds
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, expressed confusion over a reporter's question regarding whether Vladimir Putin fears the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov. "Why should Putin fear a regional leader in Russia? I do not understand your question," Peskov said during a conversation with reporters today.
"I am struggling to comprehend the essence of your question and would like to reiterate that I have informed you about their meeting," Peskov added.
It was revealed the day before that a meeting took place between Putin and Kadyrov, during which the regional leader reported on the successful economic growth in the region. Prior to this, Alexey Venediktov, the editor-in-chief of 'Echo of Moscow,' had urged the president to take into account Kadyrov's harsh statements, in which he referred to the Yangulbaev family as terrorists, as well as labeling the 'Novaya Gazeta' and 'Dozhd' television channel (recognized as foreign agents in Russia) as terrorists and accomplices of terrorists. In addition, Kadyrov also called for the Yangulbaevs to return to Chechnya, asserting that he would find and 'destroy' them.
