Who Will be the Opposition's Presidential Candidate? Manukyan Comments
The National Assembly factions 'Hayastan' and 'Pativ unem' continue discussions on whether to propose a presidential candidate or not.
'I cannot say anything about the decision yet, but discussions are continuing, and we will keep you informed in a timely manner regarding our decision on whether to nominate a presidential candidate or not,' said Gegham Manukyan, a member of the 'Hayastan' faction, in an interview with Armenpress.
When asked whether discussions had taken place with the 'Pativ unem' faction on this matter, Manukyan responded that there had not yet been any official discussions.
'Pativ unem' faction secretary Hayk Mamijanyan stated that the faction does not have enough members to propose a candidate for president on their own, but at this time, they are holding consultations with the 'Hayastan' faction. 'We will definitely inform you about the results,' said Mamijanyan.
The 'Civil Contract' faction intends to nominate Vahagn Khachaturyan as their presidential candidate. Currently, Alen Simonyan has assumed the powers of the President of the Republic.
