Members of the Armenian Olympic Team Will Not Travel to Beijing
One of the members of the Armenian Olympic team and some delegation members have tested positive for coronavirus. This was reported by the President of the Armenian Skiing Federation, Gagik Sargsyan, in a conversation with Armenpress.
Sargsyan emphasized that, as required, delegation members underwent coronavirus testing for three consecutive days before traveling to Beijing, and the test results for Gagik Sargsyan, skier Harutyun Harutyunyan, and coach Arsen Nersisyan came back positive.
“Thus, we have been deprived of the Olympic Games. Even if the test results are negative in a few days, we will not be able to reach Beijing due to flight issues. Teams travel to the Olympic Games on charter flights, and the last flight was on January 31. We have requested the Armenian National Olympic Committee to find a way to send our skier to Beijing, whose competition is on February 12,” said Sargsyan.
Currently, members of the Armenian team, skier Mikhail Mikhailyan, Katya Galstyan, and Angelina Muradyan, are in Beijing. Coaches Arthur Mikhailyan and Alla Mikhailyan are also in Beijing. The head of the delegation is Armen Grigoryan from the Armenian National Olympic Committee.
