700 Homes Being Built for Displaced Persons in Artsakh
The President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, visited the administrative areas of Noragyu, Hovsepavan, Astghashen, and Aygestan communities in the Askeran region, where residential neighborhoods are being constructed for residents displaced due to the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh in 2020. The areas affected include Azokh and Drax Tik from the Hadrut region, as well as Karintak in the Shushi region, and Avetaranots, Sghnakh, Jraghatsner, Moshkhumat, and Madatashen in the Askeran region.
During his visit, the President familiarized himself with the ongoing housing construction efforts and discussed existing issues with urban development officials on-site.
Over 700 individual homes under construction, with two, three, four, and five rooms each, are planned to have adjacent plots ranging from 1200 to 1500 square meters designated for economic activities. In the newly constructed neighborhoods, landscaping works will be carried out, and fruit orchards and greenhouse farms will be established, which will fundamentally address the employment issues of residents.
The houses, funded through governmental and charitable means, are expected to be put into operation in several phases. The housing issue for a significant portion of the displaced families is anticipated to be resolved within the current year.
President Harutyunyan instructed the construction officials and related state and community structures to complete the construction works as quickly as possible while strictly adhering to high-quality standards.
Accompanying the President during his visit was the Minister of Urban Development, Aram Sargsyan.
