Turkish and Azerbaijani Defense Ministers Meet: What Was Discussed
The meeting between Turkey's Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and his Azerbaijani counterpart Zakir Hasanov took place in Ankara, as reported by Haber Global and transmitted by armeniasputnik.
During the meeting, not only bilateral relations were discussed but also regional issues. Akar presented Hasanov with the agreements reached during the first meeting aimed at normalizing relations between Turkey and Armenia, held in Moscow.
As a reminder, Yerevan and Ankara announced in December 2021 that they were ready to take concrete steps towards normalizing relations and appointed special representatives from both sides. Turkey appointed Serdar Kılıç, a former ambassador to Washington, and Armenia appointed Ruben Rubinyan, the deputy speaker of the National Assembly.
On January 14, the special representatives of Armenia and Turkey met in Moscow. Later, the Foreign Ministry announced that both sides agreed to continue negotiations aimed at full normalization without preconditions.
