Final Decision Belongs to President Putin, Says Peskov

Moscow is currently preparing a written response to Washington regarding security guarantees. This was announced by Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of Russia, commenting on the State Department's statement that the U.S. has already received such a document.

“No, there has been some confusion; these are different considerations that represent slightly different issues. The main response from Russia on the key topic is still being prepared,” clarified the Kremlin representative.

He emphasized that the final decision regarding the timelines belongs to President Putin.

According to State Department spokesperson Ned Price, the U.S. is expecting that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will convey the response from Moscow during a phone conversation with Secretary of State Antony Blinken on February 1. The American department informed “RIA Novosti” that they already have the written response; however, later Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko denied this.
