It Remains Unclear What Exactly Was the Main Complaint of the Zoo Employees: Khajakyan

David Khajakyan, a member of the 'Bright' faction in the Council, wrote on his Facebook page: 'As you know, the Yerevan Zoo is a municipal organization, and I, as a council member, am part of the zoo's management board. Since the creation of the board, I have focused more on the zoo's issues, familiarizing myself with the situation not only through public materials but also through the actual condition of the zoo.

Recently, there have been reports about animal deaths. An official clarification stated that the figures reported included a considerably long period of fatalities. The deaths that may be related to human factors are under the attention of the management and the management board.

Today, former employees of the zoo protested in front of the zoo. Frankly, it remains unclear to me what the main complaint or demand was. It appeared that the protest was led by a former official of the zoo who had been dismissed. It is evident that the zoo's director must be a good manager and does not necessarily need to have a specialized background in zoology. I am not yet familiar with the entire new management team, but I see that they are filled with enthusiasm to reform the zoo.

The zoo's Management Board also issued a statement, which includes renowned professionals. I am confident that, without personal intrigues, the zoo will soon address the challenges it faces.'
