High Infectivity Rate of COVID-19 Omicron Variant Recorded in Armenia

The new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, is showing a high infectivity rate in Armenia, as reported by the National Center for Infectious Diseases.

Omicron manifests symptoms characteristic of seasonal flu and acute respiratory infections, including dry cough, sore throat, nasal congestion or nasal discharge, malaise, headaches, and a temperature increase of up to 38°C, and sometimes higher, along with lower back pain.

In the context of the prevailing tense epidemiological situation in the country, it is important to remain vigilant and adhere to anti-epidemic regulations. In case of the first symptoms, individuals are advised to consult their local physician to ensure early detection of the disease and prevent further complications. Of course, we must also remember to get vaccinated.

Studies have shown that the booster dose ensures a high level of protection, including against the Omicron variant. The booster vaccination prevents severe disease progression and reduces the risk of hospitalization and death. Get vaccinated and stay protected.
