Aliyev Admits His Role Behind Anti-Propaganda Against Garegin Nzhdeh

During his visit to Ganja on January 30, Aliyev commented on the suspension of the film screening about Garegin Nzhdeh in Russia. He seemingly admitted that he is behind the anti-propaganda against Nzhdeh in Russia. Aliyev referred to Nzhdeh, a genuine hero of the Armenian people, as a "fascist" and "executioner."

Aliyev stated: "I believe this was primarily a demand of the Russian public, but it is also true that I am the one who brought this issue into the political arena for the first time. I have raised the issue of Nazis in my speeches. I addressed the executioner Nzhdeh in one of my speeches at the CIS Summit, saying that the monument to Nzhdeh in the Armenian capital Yerevan is propaganda for fascism, and this must come to an end. This man was a fascist, an executioner."
