Roads in Armenia: Rescuers Free Numerous Vehicles from Blockages

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roadways in the territory of Armenia.

The roads from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station in the Aragatsotn region to the Amberd fortress and Kari Lake are closed. The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trailer trucks and difficult to pass for other vehicles due to heavy snow.

In the Syunik region, there are patches of black ice on the roadways.

According to information received from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs' Emergency Situations Department and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations' North Ossetia crisis management center, the stepantsminda-lars road is open for all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.

From January 28 to 29, the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received 18 calls regarding vehicles blocked in different areas of the republic. In particular, this includes regions such as Yerevan, Aparan in Aragatsotn, Jermuk in Vayots Dzor, Tsaghkadzor in Kotayk, Charentsavan, Nor Geghi, Arzni, Ptghni, Goris and Tatev in Syunik, as well as Amasia in Shirak, Hachik, Vardaghbyur villages, and the Saralanj-Saravan road.
