iPhone Now Recognizes People Wearing Masks
Apple has introduced a feature that allows iPhones to be unlocked using facial recognition while wearing a mask, as reported by The Verge.
The capability to unlock the smartphone with a masked face has been incorporated into the iOS 15.4 beta version. Thus, the iPhone can now identify users who are wearing protective accessories. Device owners will be able to enable this feature in their phone's settings.
When configuring the feature, a notification appears indicating that the iPhone can recognize its user through unique areas around the eyes. Previously, the Face ID functionality only operated when the user's face was not obscured by clothing elements or accessories. Furthermore, the message states that unlocking with a masked face may take some time.
Currently, this feature is only available on iPhone 12 and 13 series smartphones. It is expected that this capability will become accessible on all Face ID-enabled Apple smartphones after the final release of iOS 15.4.
