Zelensky Proposes Negotiation Format to Biden: What to Expect

Zelensky proposes to Biden to try organizing a negotiation platform in the format of the USA-Russia-Ukraine. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

It is worth noting that earlier Zelensky stated that he is not afraid of meeting with Putin in any format but does not understand why the meeting is to be in Sochi.

“Ukraine would welcome the creation of a negotiation platform in the Ukraine-Russia-USA format,” Zelensky said.

Zelensky also believes that no country will defend Ukraine if Russia decides to carry out a large-scale invasion.

Additionally, it is important to remember that earlier Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia does not want a war but will not allow its interests to be disregarded. “We do not want wars, but we also will not allow gross attacks on our interests; we will not allow our interests to be ignored,” he added.

Lavrov emphasized that the proposals on security guarantees are not ultimatums and contain nothing outrageous; Moscow simply wants to be treated fairly. He also noted that negotiations on this subject with the USA and NATO have not yet concluded, and there are “rational kernels” in response to the Russian initiative.

However, the West is “pushing out” the indivisibility of security according to the provisions of the OSCE only in ways that are convenient for it. In this regard, Moscow intends to send inquiries to all its partners to understand how they plan to implement the points of this document.

At the same time, Russia is preparing a response to Washington and Brussels, which is currently under development. Lavrov separately addressed the response of the USA and NATO to the previously sent security drafts, calling the first “the pinnacle of diplomacy” and the second “highly ideological.” He also added that he is embarrassed for the writers of the alliance's response. Lavrov mentioned that details are not being disclosed because Western partners requested not to publish them.
