The US and NATO Ignored Russia's Fundamental Concerns: Putin's Strong Reaction
Vladimir Putin, in a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, stated that the US and NATO have overlooked key points important to Russia in their responses, according to the Kremlin's press service.
At the same time, the President drew attention to the fact that the American and NATO responses did not take into account Russia's fundamental concerns, such as preventing NATO's expansion, refraining from deploying strike weapons systems near Russia's borders, and the return of NATO troops and infrastructure in Europe to their status before 1997, when the Russia-NATO founding act was signed.
It is worth recalling that in recent months, relations between Russia and the West have further deteriorated. Washington and Brussels accuse the Kremlin of preparing to “invade” Ukraine and are increasing their presence in Eastern Europe. Moscow rejects all claims, emphasizing that it is moving troops within its own territory and that this should not concern anyone.
The Russian side also reminds that it is not a participant in the intra-Ukrainian conflict and does not violate any agreements, unlike Ukraine, which does not comply with the Minsk agreements. The document calls for a ceasefire in Donbass, but Kyiv has concentrated half of its army personnel at the border with the self-proclaimed DNR and LNR and periodically fires on militia members, including using prohibited technology.
