Russia's Foreign Ministry Reminds the West of Moscow's 'Red Lines' on Security Issues

Russia is determined to continue dialogue with Western countries but will firmly defend its position and national interests, stated Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin. According to ria.ru, he emphasized during a conversation with journalists, "We have very clearly stated our position on all issues at all levels, starting from the highest level, from the President of Russia. Moreover, the transparency of our policy is primarily its characteristic."

The diplomat reminded that Moscow has always clearly demonstrated its 'red lines' and its intention to continue dialogue. In recent months, relations between Russia and the West have become increasingly strained, worsened by the situation surrounding Ukraine. Washington and Brussels accuse Moscow of preparing for 'invasion,' claiming that Russian troops are approaching the border with the neighboring state. Against this backdrop, NATO is strengthening its presence in Eastern Europe. In particular, it was announced on January 24 that a Danish frigate and four Danish fighters would be moved to Lithuania, alongside the potential deployment of Spanish ships and Dutch destroyers to Bulgaria, as well as French units to Romania.
