High Command Must Awaken from Complacency to Rectify the Situation: Statement
The "Union of Reserve Officers of the NSS" NGO has issued a message on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of Armenia.
“Since the apparent revolutionary upsurge of 2018, Armenia has been consistently heading down a path of endless displacement, whether it be in the fields of social-political, economic life, security issues, or territorial integrity. The retreat has also reached our army, which has been the greatest achievement of Armenian statehood over these thirty years. Following the shameful 44-day war, it seemed that its broken spine would be repaired, supplemented with new types of weaponry, combat morale would be raised, and radical structural changes would take place. However, there is visibly nothing being done in this direction. It seems that in the declared 'era of peace,' we will not need an army; police forces will be entirely sufficient, and that too for internal application, to suppress dissent.
This approach, in essence, is a genocide being carried out by our own hands with the soft power of Turkey and its satellites, which will lead to the extinction of the Armenian people and the loss of Armenian statehood.
These are truly critical times for Armenia. To rectify the situation, all segments of society must rise, and the high command of Armenia must awaken from its stupor, from a complacent state, stop thinking in a consumerist manner, and stand decisively for the fate of the country. In these complex geopolitical conditions, when the world is undergoing another redistribution, it is entirely understandable that Armenia cannot stand alone against these upheavals. It is essential to clarify the historical orientation of the country and to draw it out from the growing threat of creeping Turkification once and for all. The nation cannot have a second 1915, and its stable guarantor is undoubtedly the Armenian army, celebrating its anniversary today. Happy anniversary, our fortress of spirit, our bastion of identity,” states the message.
