We Do Not Know Whether Russia Will Continue Its Aggression Against Ukraine: Blinken

The recommendations given to American citizens to leave Ukraine do not mean that the U.S. administration is confident that Russia will launch an alleged 'invasion' into the republic's territory. This was stated on Wednesday by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken while addressing reporters at the State Department.

He reminded about the advisory directed to U.S. citizens in Ukraine to consider the possibility of departing the country immediately. 'For now, we don't know whether Russia will continue its aggression against Ukraine. In any case, we are obligated to send those notifications to Americans,' said the head of American diplomacy.

'That decision was based on just one factor—the safety of our partners and their families. And considering the continuing massive buildup of Russian armed forces at Ukraine's borders, which has numerous signs of preparations for an invasion, those steps were prudent,' the Secretary of State added.
