VIDEO: Cars Overturned and Off the Road Following Accident Involving More Than 30 Vehicles
Auroranews has received reports from citizens indicating that an accident involving multiple vehicles has occurred on the Yerevan-Sevan highway.
For more than 3 hours now, an emergency situation has arisen in the Kotayk region. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the section of the Yerevan-Sevan highway within the administrative territory of Charentsavan, approximately 16 kilometers long, is completely covered in black ice, causing around 30 vehicles to have accidents in various locations. There are cars overturned and others that have left the road altogether.
Drivers gathered at the scene say, “For hours, due to the black ice on the road, accidents keep happening one after the other. The road has not been treated, there is no salt or sand, and the responsible party is the road administration. In our presence, the traffic inspectors have already called the road administration several times, promising to come, but it has been 3 hours, and they are nowhere to be found, as if they have vanished into thin air. Who is going to be held responsible for the damage caused to so many people due to their inaction?”
The photojournalist also notes that representatives from several insurance companies have arrived swiftly, jokingly stating, “It’s the road administration’s fault, how are we going to compensate for these millions now?”
Shamshyan reports that the traffic jam extends for several kilometers, again due to the black ice on the road and the negligence of the road administration.
