11 Citizens of Tajikistan Injured as Situation Escalates Hour by Hour

During the conflict at the border with Kyrgyzstan, 11 citizens of Tajikistan were injured, reports the Tajikistan ASIA-Plus news agency. The Tajik border guards were wounded during gunfire exchanges along the border with Kyrgyzstan. They have been transported to the central clinic in the city of Isfana.

Earlier, it was reported that a barracks mode was declared in the conflict zone. Security, army, and law enforcement forces have been dispatched to the area to halt the escalation.

The border service of Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security has described the situation along the Kyrgyz-Tajik border as tense. It was noted that as a result of negotiations between the border representatives of both countries, the Tort-Kocho section of the Batken-Isfana road was reopened for traffic at 19:30. However, just minutes later, the situation escalated when the Tajik side used weapons and opened fire on Kyrgyz border units in the Chyr-Dobo area of the Batken region.

The main exchange of fire between the border forces of both countries is taking place in the areas of Tort-Kocho and Chyr-Dobo. The Tajik side is using mortars and grenade launchers, the agency reported, as noted by 24.kg.
